March 3rd - International Sex Worker Rights Day

The Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, a sex worker collective in India, organized a demonstration to demand sex worker rights on March 3, 2001 in Calcutta.  Attended by more than 25,000 sex workers, the event inspired groups across the globe to recognize March 3rd as International Sex Workers' Rights Day.  Annual celebrations have commemorated this day for the last eleven years.
